Step into the future of notarization with Blue Ink Notary. In this blog post, we'll explore the revolutionary world of In-Person Electronic Notarization (IPEN), shedding light on the variety of benefits it brings to the notarization process. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a first-time user, get ready to discover the seamless blend of convenience and reliability that IPEN offers. Welcome to the digital age, where Blue Ink Notary is at the forefront of transforming the notarization experience.

What is IPEN?

In-Person Electronic Notarization (IPEN) is a cutting-edge method that combines the traditional in-person notarization process with the efficiency and security of electronic technology. Think of signing your documents on an iPad with an electronic signature rather than using pen and paper! Blue Ink Notary proudly brings this innovative technology to clients in and around Reading, Pennsylvania, offering a seamless blend of convenience and reliability.

Benefits of In-Person Electronic Notarization:

Time Efficiency - With IPEN, there's no need to waste time commuting to a notary's office. Blue Ink Notary brings the notary to you, saving you valuable time in your busy schedule. And there is no need for the notary to waste time printing documents and then scannning them back to the recipient after they have been signed.

Enhanced Security - IPEN utilizes state-of-the-art encryption and forensics to ensure the highest level of security for your documents. Blue Ink Notary utilizes the EscrowTab platform which offers a legally verifiable signing process.

Digital Record Keeping - Say goodbye to piles of paperwork. IPEN allows for seamless digital record-keeping, making it easier to retrieve and organize your notarized documents whenever needed. Electronically signed documents are available immediately after the signing session has been marked complete.

Cost Savings - There is no need to print documents, saving money on printer ink and paper. No need for the notary to pick up and drop off loan documents from the title company or lender, saving money on gas and wear and tear on the notary's vehicle. Updates to the documents simply get loaded to the platform rather than needing to be reprinted.

Reduced Carbon Footprint - Less paper means less trees being cut down. Less paper leads to less stress on the Earth and its natural resources from decreasing the production of and the shipping of cases of paper.

How Does IPEN Work?

Thus far, in person electronic notarization is being used primarily for real estate transactions. Here is how the process works:

  • Loan documents are loaded into an electronic platform like EscrowTab and made available to the notary.

  • Notary is able to review the documents on the platform and any document changes and updates are simply uploaded to the platform before the closing.

  • At closing, the notary will utilize one of the 3 traditional ways of identifying the signer(s) as would be done for a wet ink signing.

  • Borrower(s) signs the documents electronically while any notarizations are completed by the notary electronically as well.

  • EscrowTab's progress bar alerts the notary to any missed areas that need to be signed, initialed or filled in.

  • Notary can review and ensure all documents and notarizations have been properly completed and once done, will submit the documents which immediately are sent to the title company and the lender for review.

NOTE:

Some states may not allow certain documents to be signed utilizing IPEN. For example, Pennsylvania does not allow it for estate planning documents. If you'd like to sign your documents electronically, be sure to ask whomever is requesting the notarization, if they will accept an electronically signed document first!
